What do Phone Repair Centre's phone grades mean?

PRC grades every phone for cosmetic condition only: Like New (near-flawless), Very Good (light signs of use), Good (visible wear), and Acceptable (heavy cosmetic wear). Every grade is fully working — the grade is only about looks.

Does the grade tell me if the phone works?

No. The cosmetic grade is only about appearance. Whether a phone works and what parts it has is shown separately as its condition tier, and battery health is shown as its own measured band.

Are the photos of the actual phone?

Yes. Every listing shows real photos of the exact phone you will receive, and any notable cosmetic mark is disclosed in words and a close-up photo.

Grading, explained

The grade is only about looks. Every phone is fully tested; the grade just tells you how much cosmetic wear to expect, so there are no surprises when it arrives.

Like New Grade A

Looks essentially new — you'd struggle to tell it from a brand-new phone.

Very Good Grade B

Light, everyday signs of use that all but vanish in your hand or a case.

What you might see

A few faint micro-scratches, only caught at an angle
No dents or chips
Screen stays crisp and clear

Good Grade C

Honest, visible wear from real use — fully working, and priced to reflect it.

What you might see

Visible scratches or scuffs on the frame and back
Maybe light screen marks that don't affect use
Everything tested and working

Acceptable Grade D

Heavy cosmetic wear and battle scars, but fully functional with no faults.

What you might see

Noticeable scratches, scuffs, possibly small dents
Screen may show marks or light wear
100% functional — just cosmetically worn, so it's the cheapest way in

Condition tiers

Separate from the cosmetic grade — this is about parts and faults, and it's always shown alongside the grade.

StandardFully working with genuine parts throughout — our main range.

Second LifeFully working, but one or more parts (often screen or battery) is a quality compatible (non-genuine) part. We tell you exactly which. Great value.

AS-ISHas one clearly disclosed fault (e.g. cracked back glass). Everything else is tested. Priced low for tinkerers and spare-parts buyers.

Battery health bands

90%+Holds 90% or more of its original capacity — excellent for daily use.

80%+Holds 80–89% — healthy, and the industry standard for refurbished phones. Want it like new? We'll fit a fresh battery for $49.

Display image retention

Some OLED screens keep a faint trace of what was on them for a long time. It is a normal display characteristic, not damage, and we grade it the same way every time so the words on one listing mean the same as the words on another.

LightFaint display image retention - visible only on plain light backgrounds, unnoticeable in daily use.

ModerateSome display image retention (screen shadowing) - visible on light backgrounds, does not affect touch or function.
